Salford Sidekicks was a volunteer-led scheme provided by Salford Heart Care. It began life as a befriending, driving and health mentoring pilot scheme commissioned by Salford Primary Care Trust, providing support for people with heart disease.
Salford Sidekicks was able to offer practical and emotional support to people in Salford suffering from the long term medical health conditions: heart disease, respiratory disease, stroke and diabetes, helping and supporting them short term so they can self-care in the future.
The project is due to end on 31st August 2011
The mission of the Salford Sidekicks was to improve the quality of life for the people of Salford by offering practical and emotional support for people living with long-term medical conditions, helping them to increase social contact, support lifestyle changes and ensuring they have reasonable access to the self-care services they require.
